The International Project Management Association (IPMA) is the worldwide leading authority on competent project, programme and portfolio management with presently 68 national Member Associations. IPMA´s members develop competencies for project, programme and portfolio management in their geographic areas of influence, interacting with thousands of practitioners and developing relationships with corporations, government agencies, universities and colleges, as well as training organizations and consulting companies.

GPM, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Projektmanagement e. V. is member of IPMA and influences IPMA significantly during the last fifty years. At present, GPM is represented through Reinhard Wagner (President of IPMA), Werner Schmehr (Chairman of Certification and Validation Management Board), Prof. Dr. Yvonne Schoper (Coordinator for IPMA´s Research Conferences) and Niklas Bein (Member of Young Crew Management Board).
